Description

School Boards establish a vision for the community's schools that reflects a consensus of the board, community and district staff. The school board has a wide variety of additional responsibilities, such as adopting a balanced annual budget and issuing interim financial reports, adopting the school calendar, negotiating contracts with employees, approving curriculum materials and closing or constructing schools.

Application Guidelines

To file for this position follow these three steps: 1) Contact the county clerk to confirm that your address qualifies you for the position you intend to run for, and that you meet other qualifications. 2) Complete the required paperwork, including candidacy application and campaign finance forms. Nomination papers are made available 90 days before the election and are due back the 71st day before the election. 3) Submit your paperwork to the county clerk by the deadline in order to appear on the election ballot in November.
